Written Answers. - Funding for Swimming Pool Development.

142 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of money which will be made available during 1993 to assist with the development and upgrading of swimming pools throughout the country; if some of this funding will be made available to the Mallow swimming pool, County Cork, in view of the fact that plans for the pool's renovation were approved by him some months ago.

A sum of £1.183 million has been provided in my Department's Estimates for 1993 for the provision and refurbishment of swimming pools.

Contract documents for the refurbishment of the Mallow pool have been approved and the question of allowing the project to proceed to tender stage is under consideration. The provision of funding does not arise at this stage.
