34 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the measures, if any, that have been taken to address the threat of placing incendiary and other such devices in Dublin; if she will draft additional gardaí to Dublin city centre; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
I am informed by the Garda authorities that threats to place incendiary or other such devices in Dublin or any location in the State are assessed on a continuous basis and appropriate measures are taken as necessary. It would be counter-productive to give details of these measures other than to say that they involve a combination of Garda operational measures and co-operation with the business community together with close contact with the Northern Ireland authorities.
As regards the assignment of additional gardaí to Dublin city centre, I would refer the Deputy to my comprehensive reply to Questions Nos. 5, 17, 20, 39 and 47 of 17 February 1993.
