Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Centralisation of Administration.

Peter Barry

Question:

226 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if, in view of the decision to centralise beef premium paper work in Portlaoise, County Laois, he will give his views as to the effect this decision will have on the Livestock Office, at South Mall, Cork, on its operations and on future staffing requirements; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is not envisaged that the centralisation of the administrative operations of the special beef premium in Portlaoise will have major implications for the future staff requirements of my Department's Livestock office in Cork as the remaining headage/livestock premium schemes will continue to be operated from that office. In addition new work such as that relating to area aid applications agreed under the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy will be operated from local livestock offices.
