Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Non-Performing Bank Accounts.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

68 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Finance whether statistics are available on the number of bank accounts which are non-performing for a period of five years or more, that is, accounts of private customers where the only transaction on the accounts is the crediting of interest or debiting of bank charges in Irish commercial banks.

The Central Bank is the statutory authority for banks under the Central Bank Act, 1989.

The Central Bank has informed me that statistics are not available on accounts which are non-performing.
