Question:117 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for the Environment if there are any grants available within his Department for the felling of trees due to disease and the replanting of new trees.

Wexford): Grants are not available from my Department for this purpose. Under section 50 of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, planning authorities may, for the purpose of preserving or enhancing the amenities or natural beauty of any land, assist any person or body proposing to plant trees, shrubs or other plants on the land by providing trees, shrubs or other plants or by a grant of money.
