Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Mayo Sewerage Scheme.

Jim Higgins

Question:

118 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the approval for the extension of Mayo County Council's sewerage scheme to service the 20 houses at Belass, Foxford, County Mayo, which are currently totally dependent on individual septic tanks, which are not functioning properly.

A proposal for a sewerage scheme at Belass was received in my Department on 14 April 1993 and is being examined at present. Having regard to the level of commitments on the water and sanitary services programme, I am not in a position to indicate when a decision may be made.
