Vol. 429 No. 7

Written Answers. - Trim (County Meath) Court Office.

John Bruton

Question:

72 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice when the office of Trim Court will be fully computerised; and the improvement in Court services in the Trim area that she expects will result from this.

Part of the court office work in Trim has already been computerised and a plan for the extension of computerised information systems in all court offices has been drawn up and will be implemented throughout the country over the next few years. It is not possible at this stage to say precisely when it will be fully implemented in Trim.

Computerisation will allow present court office procedures to be simplified which will lead to a more efficient system of processing work. The computer systems which will be introduced will allow for the processing, production and issue of pre and post court documentation such as court lists, fines notices and court orders of a general nature. They will also provide a data base of cases which will readily provide statistical data for information and management purposes.

I am committed to using the resources available to me to bring about the expansion of computerisation of the court service as quickly as possible.
