Vol. 430 No. 2

Written Answers. - Cork Hospitals Review Group Report.

Peter Barry

Question:

101 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Health if he has studied the Cork Hospitals Review Group report; his views on one of the conclusions that no further permanent closures of beds should be made; his views on whether the reservations outlined and appended at the end of the report covering a number of issues diluted the overall impact of the study; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am at present examining the report of the Cork Hospitals Review Group. I have circulated the report to the Southern Health Board and the two voluntary hospitals in Cork for their views. I look forward to receiving their comments on the contents of the report as soon as possible.

The Deputy will appreciate that it would be precipitate of me to comment on specific recommendations made by the Hospitals Review Group before receiving the views of all the agencies concerned.
