Vol. 430 No. 6

Written Answers. - Senior Certificate.

Tony Gregory

Question:

93 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education the number of schools operating the senior certificate nationally and in Dublin; if she has any plans to expand the scheme in view of its success so far; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The senior certificate has been approved for a total of 61 schools — 11 of which are in the Dublin area.

As I indicated in my reply to Question No. 294 on 9 March 1993, the future of the senior certificate will be considered in the context of the future structure and content of the senior cycle of second-level education. This matter is discussed in the Green Paper on Education and will be further considered in the light of the views expressed by the various interested parties.
