Vol. 431 No. 1

Written Answers. - Higher Education Grant Application.

Donal Carey

Question:

132 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Education the reason the application of a person (details supplied) in County Clare for a third level grant was refused.

I understand from Clare County Council, which is the body statutorily entrusted with the administration of the Higher Education Grants Scheme in this case, that the person in question applied for a grant as a mature student in respect of a post-graduate Diploma in Arts Administration in UCG for the 1992-93 academic year.

I understand that she was deemed ineligible for a grant on the basis that she did not satisfy the age requirements for such a grant under the 1992 Higher Education Grants scheme.
