108 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason the results of interviews held early in February 1993, for appointments and promotions at his Department's office in Castlebar, County Mayo, have not been announced in view of the severe shortage of staff to deal with new schemes and programmes.

My Department has been involved in detailed and complex negotiations with the staff associations on the implementation of the proposals under the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy over the past few months. These are now almost finalised and I should be in a position to release the results of the Castlebar interviews shortly.
