Vol. 431 No. 7

Written Answers - Junior Certificate Examiner.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

101 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education if she has received a complaint from a person (details supplied) in County Wicklow who, despite six years experience has not been re-appointed as an assistant examiner for the junior certificate art examination and who has not even been placed on the reserve panel; if she has had the complaint investigated; if so, the outcome of the investigation and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department selects from the applicants each year the panel of assistant examiners which it considers most suitable in each particular subject.

Selection as an examiner in any one year does not confer on any applicant the right to be selected in subsequent years.

You will appreciate that it would not be appropriate for me to go into the reasons why one applicant rather than another was selected.
