Vol. 432 No. 1

Written Answers. - Proposed Legislation on Culliton Report.

John Bruton

Question:

135 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice if he has any proposals to introduce legislation to deal with any aspect of the Government decisions on the Culliton report; and if so, if he will give details of the proposed legislation.

As I have informed the House in the past, I could not undertake, by way of reply to a parliamentary question, to outline what particular legislative proposals I may have in mind. Any such proposals would be brought before Government for approval before being announced in the ordinary way.

I would however repeat the point made by the then Minister for Justice in reply to a similar question on 7 October last (Official Report, Volume 423, column 195) i.e. that none of the main recommendations in the Culliton report — which is concerned with industrial policy — have any major implications for my Department.
