Vol. 432 No. 2

Written Answers. - European Commission on Human Rights.

Tony Gregory

Question:

13 Mr. Gregory asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the Government's position regarding the proceedings before the European Commission on Human Rights brought by persons (details supplied) against the British Government.

While the Government is aware of the case in question and follows it to the extent consistent with its rights under the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the Convention provides that Commission cases are strictly confidential to the parties directly concerned.

When the Commission has concluded its deliberations its findings will in due course become available and, as with all such findings, will be considered carefully by the Government at that time.
