Vol. 432 No. 2

Written Answers. - Office Supplies and Equipment.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

89 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment the degree to which Irish manufactured office supplies and equipment, including computer supplies, are provided to his Department or to offices the Estimate for which falls within his group; the extent to which such requirements are met by overseas manufacturers where Irish alternatives exist; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department obtains the bulk of its office supplies through the Government Supplies Agency. Where equipment, including computer equipment and supplies, are purchased directly by the Department, normal competitive tendering procedures are followed. A breakdown of purchases of equipment-office supplies by country of origin is not available.
