Vol. 432 No. 3

Written Answers. - East Meath Water Supply Scheme.

Mary Wallace

Question:

124 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for the Environment if he is pursuing a proposal made by Meath County Council in February 1993, regarding the East Meath water supply scheme and, in particular, the provision of water to people in the Dunshaughlin area who have been without water for a considerable period this winter; and if he will make a statement to clarify the progress made on the proposal.

I refer to the reply to Question No. 172 of 4 May 1993. In response to the proposal referred to in the question, my Department has recently authorised Meath County Council to prepare a full preliminary report on the provision of a water supply scheme, within the overall framework of the east Meath regional scheme, to serve the south-east area of County Meath. I await these full scale proposals.
