Vol. 433 No. 7

Written Answers. - Wood Pulp Mill Provision.

Liz McManus

Question:

103 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the final plans for a wood pulp mill in Ireland; and whether the case put forward by Wicklow County Council is being considered.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to the House on 27 April, 1993, in response to Questions Nos. 241, 242 and 243.

The location of the proposed oriented strand board facility is, as I have already indicated to the House, an issue primarily for the project promoters to decide having due regard to the commercial factors involved in such a decision. As part of the process in deciding this issue, the Deputy can be assured that cases presented in favour of particular locations are given careful consideration.
