Vol. 434 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Bus Ticket.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

138 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in the issuing of a school bus ticket to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

My Department has been advised by the transport liaison officer that the pupil in question, who is fully eligible for transport to either school, was issued with a ticket for the first school in July. When she applied, on 31 August, for a ticket to transfer to the second school, she was informed that this would be done as soon as she returned the original. It will be appreciated that, in the interests of avoiding abuse of the system, no pupil may hold two valid tickets at the one time.

The transport liaison officer is still awaiting the return of the original ticket. When this is received a replacement, covering travel to the new school, will be issued.
