Question:

115 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will give details of the remuneration package currently provided for the Chief Executive of Aer Lingus including salary and any non-cash benefits; if he approved the package; if he has satisfied himself that the package complies with the recommendation of the Gleeson report.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

116 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will give details of the remuneration package currently provided for the Chairman of Aer Lingus including salary and any non-cash benefits; if he approved the package; if he has satisfied himself that the package complies with the recommendation of the Gleeson report; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 115 and 116 together.

The remuneration package for the chairman of Aer Lingus complies with the recommendations of the Gleeson report. The Chairman is also chief executive of the Aer Lingus Group. His remuneration package approved by me for this function also complies with the recommendations for the Gleeson report. The chief executive of the airline company Aer Lingus is employed on a consultancy basis; such appointments are a matter for the board of the company.
