*These figures represent adults waiting on all ENT procedures including tonsillectomy.
**These figures represent children awaiting tonsil/adenoid procedures.
The Deputy will be aware that under the Waiting List Initiative which I launched earlier this year, substantial inroads are being made in reducing the numbers on waiting lists throughout the country. In the area of ear, nose and throat surgery, a special sum of £3.32 million has been allocated to enable an additional 1,466 procedures for adults and 3,346 procedures for children to be performed throughout the country this year. These procedures are additional to the baseline activity which hospitals perform on a day to day basis.
