Vol. 434 No. 9

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing Construction Programme.

Tony Gregory

Question:

25 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for the Environment if the surplus moneys available in the event of house building allocations not being fully utilised in 1993 by any local authority will be transferred to Dublin city to help provide additional houses there in view of the huge housing waiting list in Dublin city.

The capital available for the local authority housing construction programme in 1993 has been fully allocated amongst the housing authorities and there are no further funds available to me at present. The progress of authorities with their programmes will continue to be closely monitored to see if any funds might become available for reallocation. In this event, regard will be had to the needs in Dublin, in common with those of other areas.
