Vol. 434 No. 10

Written Answers. - Foreshore Licence Applications.

Godfrey Timmins

Question:

146 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for the Marine if he has made a decision on the foreshore licence application by Waterford County Council for the location of an outfall pipe at Rinnashark, Tramore, County Waterford; and, if not, when he will do so.

The application by Waterford County Council for permission under the Foreshore Acts to lay an outfall pipe on an area of foreshore at Rinnashark Harbour, County Waterford, is undergoing thorough vetting by the Department which is examining the environmental and fishery implications of the proposal. In addition, and in advance of an offer of a lease, notice of the application would be published and comments invited. Any decision in the matter will be taken in light of the outcome of the consultative and assessment processes when these are fully completed.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

147 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Marine if the application for approval of a foreshore licence in connection with the proposed extension of Adams Quay at Kinsale, County Cork will be issued; and if grant approval will be issued for this project.

The Department of the Marine is awaiting a revised application from Kinsale Harbour Commissioners for permission to reclaim an area of foreshore at Adams Quay. An earlier application by the Commissioners was withdrawn at the end of last July. If and when the revised plans and drawings have been approved by the Department's technical advisors notice of the application will be published in the newspapers and comments invited. This development is being considered for possible inclusion in the Fishery Harbour Development Programme 1994-1999. Pending the finalisation of the programme it is not possible to say whether the project will be included for funding.
