Vol. 435 No. 5

Written Answers. - Traffic Speed in Residential Area.

Tony Gregory

Question:

61 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice if she will bring to the attention of the Garda Commissioner the very serious concern of the residents of Ratoath Road, Dublin 7, at the increasingly dangerous speed of the traffic using this residential road; and if she will have arrangements made for the Garda to monitor and deal with this problem with a view to averting further serious accidents.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that they are conscious of the heavy volume of traffic that uses Ratoath Road on a daily basis. Garda checkpoints are operated at the location in question on a regular basis and prosecutions are taken where breaches of the speed-limit are detected. I am assured by the Garda that the area will continue to receive ongoing attention.
