23 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for the Environment whether the maintenance and refurbishment of courthouses should be a matter for the Department of Justice and not for local authorities; and if he will put proposals to the Government to free local authorities from this obligation.
Further action towards implementation of the 1990 Government decision to relieve local authorities of financial responsibility for providing and maintaining courthouses is a matter, in the first instance, for the Minister for Justice. In this regard, I refer to the reply given by the Minister for Justice to Question No. 38 on 14 October 1993.
