Vol. 435 No. 9

Written Answers. - Monasterevan (Kildare) School.

Alan M. Dukes

Question:

271 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Education when she will be in a position to consider a request by St. Paul's Secondary School, Monasterevan, County Kildare, for financial assistance to repay debts incurred as a result of the construction of two classrooms by a number of its students; if she will ensure that sympathetic consideration is given to this request in view of the facts that the school received no State funding for the building programme and the project was completed at a much lower cost than it would have been had outside contractors been used.

The details of this project are currently being examined by my Department. I am aware of the circumstances involved and the case will be given careful consideration in the light of all the relevant factors. My Department will be in contact with the school authorities when a decision is reached on the matter.
