Vol. 435 No. 10

Written Answers. - Local Authority Employment Regulations.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

120 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for the Environment whether there is any age barrier regulations or directives in his Department or any other agency affecting the employment of persons to local authority posts, either on a full-time basis or otherwise.

Upper and lower age limits are prescribed for all local authority offices for which the Minister for the Environment is the appropriate Minister. For the generality of offices, the upper age limit was raised in 1991 to 50 years. There are no age limits prescribed by the Minister for non-officer posts in local authorities.
