Vol. 435 No. 10

Written Answers. - Departmental Parliamentary Questions.

Pat Upton

Question:

121 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment the number of parliamentary questions for oral and written answer, respectively, tabled to his Department since the formation of the present Government; and the total cost of dealing with these questions.

A total of 420 oral and 1,318 written questions were tabled to the Minister for the Environment in the period referred to. In the same period, 108 questions were answered orally and 1,204 were replied to in written form. A disproportionate amount of staff time would be involved in establishing the cost involved in dealing with these questions.
