Question:

125 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Defence the number of parliamentary questions for oral and written answers, respectively, tabled to his Department since the formation of the present Government; and the total cost of dealing with these questions.

In the period since the formation of the present Government a total of 383 parliamentary questions have been addressed to the Minister for Defence; of these 208 were for oral answer and 175 for written answer. On the basis of an estimated average costing by the Department of Finance, the total cost in dealing with these questions was approximately £25,000.
