181 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education the number of second level schools in County Kildare in which it will not be possible to provide a transition year; the reason for this; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Second level schools in general have been given the option of running a three-year senior cycle from 1994 onwards. Schools wishing to offer the transition year programme for 1994-95 should notify my Department by 3 December 1993.
