Vol. 436 No. 8

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Ivan Yates

Question:

57 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Social Welfare if a person (details supplied) in County Wexford will be approved for a contributory widow's pension in view of the fact that her husband has paid the full PRSI for a self-employed person since the scheme was introduced some years ago; if so, when; and the rate of payment.

The person concerned applied for a widow's contributory pension on 16 November 1993. She is entitled to a pension at the maximum rate of £62.60 per week with effect from 22 October 1993, the Friday following her late husband's death.

A pension book payable from a current date is issuing to her local post office this week. A cheque to cover arrears of pension will be issued to her separately.
