84 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Justice the progress, if any, that has been made in inquiries into allegations that excessive force was used in the deportation of 27 Turkish Kurds at Shannon Airport on 16 November 1992.
Following the receipt of correspondence in which certain serious allegations were made, I asked the Garda authorities for a full report on the matter. The Garda authorities have now informed me that an investigation of the allegations in question by a senior officer is near completion and I expect, therefore, to receive a report shortly. When I receive and consider that report, I will write to the Deputy.
