Question:

85 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice regarding the Kilmainham and Kevin Street Garda Districts the level of recorded crime as opposed to the national average, the categories of crime involved and the relevant percentages, available statistics of crimes against women, the level of detection as opposed to the national average, the number of women convicted of crimes, and the Garda manpower, number of vehicles and other such resources available in each of these districts.

The information which is readily available is set out in the tabular statement below:

Group 1—Offences against the person.

Group 2—Offences against property with violence.

Group 3—Larcenies, etc.

Group 4—Other indictable offences.

While these detection rates are relatively low I understand that measures already taken by the Garda authorities have resulted in a significant improvement to date this year.

There are 3 full time members on Community Policing in Kevin Street and 6 in Kilmainham.
Eleven vehicles are attached to Kevin Street Garda Station and eight vehicles to Kilmainham Garda Station.
The area is also patrolled by the Divisional Task Force and specialist units attached to Harcourt Square.
