Vol. 437 No. 6

Written Answers. - Submissions to County Enterprise Boards.

Michael Finucane

Question:

303 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the total amount of grant submissions for each of the County Enterprise Boards submitted for the period September-December 1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

County Enterprise Boards were established nationwide in late September 1993 and in general their inaugural meetings were held during the course of October 1993. Rates of start up activity among boards have been influenced by the varied approaches they have adopted in assessing the needs of their respective areas and by the extent to which other local development initiatives have been in operation within these areas. It is understood from contacts with the Boards that an aggregate total of about £3.4 million has been approved by Boards for projects under the initiative to date. Responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the County Enterprise Board system is developed to the Boards themselves and further detailed information as to the amount of grant submissions made to particular Boards is a matter for each Board.
