Vol. 437 No. 6

Written Answers. - Roscrea (Tipperary) Disabled Persons' Centre.

Michael Lowry

Question:

521 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Health if he will provide an increased allocation in 1994 to St. Anne's Centre for the disabled at Roscrea, County Tipperary, to enable further improvements to be carried out at this centre.

My Department is currently in the process of determining the allocations for 1994 for the direct funded mental handicap agencies, including St. Anne's, Roscrea. The Government has provided as extra £2.5 million in 1994 to strengthen the funding base of agencies providing services for people with a mental handicap. In addition, the Government has provided an extra £10 million for the development of additional services for persons with a mental handicap.

The precise services to be provided in each region will be agreed by the regional mental handicap co-ordinating committees and approved by me.
