Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

95 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the amount of payment due under the beef premium scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; the number of cattle which he will be paid for; when the payment will issue; and if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this payment has been due for a considerable period of time.

The person named has been deemed ineligible for grants under the December 1992 special beef premium scheme as he did not maintain the number of animals on which he applied for premium for two months as required under the terms and conditions of the scheme.

He did not apply for grants under the special beef premium scheme during the January/February 1993 and June 1993 application periods.

Question:

96 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of ewe quota that will be granted to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The EU Regulations provide for ewe premium quotas to be based on the number of ewes on which a producer was paid the premium in 1991 provided that the producer also applied for the premium in 1992.

The person named is not entitled to a quota because he did no apply for the premium under the 1991 ewe premium scheme and no application has been received from him for quota from the national reserve. The closing date for receipt of applications to the reserve was 17 September 1993.

Question:

98 Mrs. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a bullock grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

I propose taking Questions Nos. 97 and 98 together.

The application of the person named for grants under the 1993 cattle and equine headage schemes is being processed at present and if found in order payment will be made in the near future. He cannot be paid any 1993 suckler cow premium as he has no quota at present. If he succeeds in obtaining a quota from the national reserve, his 1993 suckler cow application can then be reconsidered.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

99 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a bullock grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The person named applied under the June 1993 22 month special premium scheme but failed to complete details concerning the number of animals he was applying on, area aid application, milk quota, etc.

Due to the incomplete nature of his application payment of the 60 per cent instalment has not been made. The special beef unit of my Department will contact him shortly to have these details supplied, following which his application will be processed for payment.

He did not apply for grants under the special beef premium scheme in the January/February 1993 application period.

Donal Carey

Question:

101 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Clare will be paid his suckler cow premium; and when this file was passed from the Ennis office of his Department.

The person named was not paid an advance of 1993 suckler cow premium as he was not an applicant in the reference year of 1992 and therefore did not have an automatic suckler cow quota.

He is entitled to apply for suckler cow quota from the national reserve and the appropriate application forms will be sent to him when they become available later in February. If successful his 1993 suckler cow application can then be processed for payment.
