Vol. 438 No. 5

Written Answers. - Regional Authorities' Functions.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

159 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for the Environment if in view of the imminent start-up of the regional authorities, he intends increasing their powers and remit beyond the supervision of structural and cohesion fund spending in each region.

The functions assigned to the regional authorities are not confined to structural and cohesion funds. The full range of functions is set out in the Local Government Act, 1991 (Regional Authorities) (Establishment) Order, 1993 (S.I. No. 394 of 1993), a copy of which is available in the Oireachtas Library.
