Vol. 438 No. 6

Written Answers. - Glenville (Cork) Garda Appointment.

Paul Bradford

Question:

67 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Justice if a permanent and resident Garda will be appointed to the village of Glenville, County Cork; if so, when this appointment will be made; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that Glenville Garda station is a substation of Carrignavar station. Both stations form part of the Cobh District. The Garda assigned to Glenville station retired last month and has not been replaced to date. However, I understand that it is intended to fill the vacancy at Glenville and that the divisional officer has already taken steps to do this. However, it is not possible at this stage to say when an appointment will be made.

In the meantime, Glenville is being policed by the gardaí from Carrignavar. The Garda station is opened on a regular basis and mobile patrols are carried out in the area using the patrol car assigned to Watergrasshill.
