Vol. 439 No. 6

Written Answers. - Anglo-Irish Intergovernmental Conference.

Peter Barry

Question:

71 Mr. Barry asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of meetings held in 1993 under the auspices of the Anglo-Irish Agreement; the number of meetings he intends to hold in 1994; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Six meetings of the Anglo-Irish Intergovernmental Conference were held in 1993: one in Dublin, two in Belfast and three in London. To date in 1994, one meeting of the Conference was held in Dublin on 28 January. Another meeting has been scheduled for the near future.

I attach importance to this pattern of regular meetings of the Conference in order to ensure that the objectives of the Anglo-Irish Agreement are pursued vigorously and effectively.
