Question:101 Mrs. Doyle asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he intends to make TB testing compulsory for deer herds; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department is at present considering proposals which are designed to lead to the commencement of a national deer testing programme later this year. Discussions in this regard are currently taking place with the deer farming organisations and with the insurance industry.
