Question:

17 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Health the number of persons certified as having died from cancer in each of the past five years; the nature of the disease; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The numbers of deaths from principal types of cancer for the yeas 1988 to 1992 inclusive is set out in a table which I will have circulated in the Official Report. Figures for 1993 are not yet available.
