Vol. 443 No. 7

Written Answers. - Change of Status of Dublin 6 School.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

230 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education the reason a change of status was granted to a school (details supplied) in Dublin 6W without reference to the parish school nearby; and if she will make a statement on the matter in view of the fact that this change was refused to the parish school.

An application from the national school referred to by the Deputy was approved in June 1993 on the basis that such a change would have little or no effect on existing schools in the area. In the previous four years only two pupils had transferred after first class to the parish school mentioned by the Deputy. That school is fully co-educational, hence the question of a change in its status did not arise.
