Vol. 443 No. 8

Written Answers. - Breeding Geese Importation.

Michael Creed

Question:

74 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties being experienced in this country by persons in the geese hatchery business due to difficulties in importing breeding stock (details supplied); his views on whether these difficulties are at variance with EU regulations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The veterinary rules for trade in poultry between EU member states are set out in EU legislation. In particular, consignments must be accompanied by the health certificate. I am not aware of any difficulties being encountered by persons wishing to import breeding geese in accordance with this legislation.
