Vol. 443 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Creed

Question:

75 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid his 1993 suckler cow grant.

The person named applied for premium on 22 cows under the 1993 suckler cow premium scheme. As he was not an applicant for suckler cow premium in 1992 he has not established automatic quota rights under this scheme. He has, however, applied to the national reserve for 30 quota rights. If he is successful in obtaining a quota his application will be processed for payment as soon as possible.

Question:

76 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid his 1993 and 1994 headage grants.

The person named was paid an advance of £882.74 under the 1993 cattle headage scheme on 30 November 1993 and the balance of £588.75 due under this scheme on 17 February 1994. He also applied for premium on 21 cows under the 1993 suckler cow premium scheme. As he presented 16 eligible cows under the 1992 suckler cow premium scheme he has established automatic quota rights to this number only and his application will be processed for payment of 16 cows in the near future.

He applied for special beef premium on one animal in June 1993. He was paid an advance of £31.63 on this application on 20 December 1993 and the balance of £21.10 on 27 April 1994. If eligible, he will be paid extensification premium when all 1993 suckler cow and beef premium payments are processed. Payment of 1994 cattle headage schemes will not commence before the end of the year.

Question:

77 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if a person (details supplied) in County Cork has applied for an installation aid grant; if so, if this application complies with all of the regulations; if so, when approval will issue; and when payment can be expected.

I am advised by Teagasc that there is no record of a formal application from the person mentioned for the scheme of installation aid for young farmers. However, I understand that Teagasc informed this person of the educational requirements that have to be complied with if he is to avail of the scheme.

Paul Bradford

Question:

78 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has not yet received payment of his 1993 beef premium; the amount due to this person; and when payment will issue.

The application of the person named for grants under the January/February 1993 special beef premium scheme was rejected at a computer validation check because of inconsistent ages. The problem has now been resolved following clarification from the herdowner and a payable order for £2,952.88 will issue shortly.

The person named did not apply for grants under the special beef premium scheme in the June and November 1993 application periods.
