Vol. 444 No. 3

Written Answers. - Drugs Maintenance Programmes.

Tony Gregory

Question:

112 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health the number of addicts on maintenance programmes such as methadone or plyceptone in the three satellite clinics in Dublin; and the amount and cost of the methadone administered to them over a 12 month period.

I understand from the Eastern Health Board that a total of 384 persons are attending their three satellite clinics for methadone maintenance. The average dose of methadone per person is 50 milligrams and the estimated cost in 1994 is £190,000.
