Question:68 Mr. Barrett asked the Minister for the Environment if he will ensure that suitably qualified unemployed persons are offered the positions of poll clerks/presiding officers for all future elections.

I have written to returning officers, who are responsible for all matters relating to the conduct of elections, requesting that, wherever possible, employment in connection with elections should be offered to suitable persons not in paid employment.
