Question:23 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education if she will provide additional funding to enable seating to be provided at the Waterford Regional Sports Complex, County Waterford. [1163/94]
Written Answers. - Funding for Sports Complex.
Waterford was designated a regional sports centre under my Department's Major Sports Facilities Programme and a grant of £0.5 million was provided for the development of a synthetic athletic track and infield playing pitch.
An additional grant of £0.6 million was provided in early 1994 for the provision of a spectator stand including dressing rooms and other associated works adjoining the athletic track. My Department has recently authorised Waterford Corporation to proceed with construction work on the project.
No application for additional funding for spectator seating in the stand has been received by my Department.
