Vol. 446 No. 3

Written Answers. - Turbary Rights.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

234 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry whether farmers who have turbary rights on their land are eligible under the REPS scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2056/94]

For the purpose of determing the eligible area of the farm under the rural environment protection scheme (REPS) land held in fee simple subject to turbary rights is not eligible. However, farmers with such rights can participate in the scheme provided they are farming at least three hectares of eligible land which is either owned or leased.
