Vol. 448 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin Airport Landing Charges.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

131 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will provide in tabular form the landing charges at Dublin Airport compared with landing charges at the main airports in other EU capital cities. [1776/95]

The details sought by the Deputy, as supplied by Aer Rianta, are shown in the following table.

This table shows the total airport charges which apply to a B737-400, effective from 1 September 1994. The charges listed include landing fees and passenger load fees in addition to other charges such as parking charges, noise reduction rebates and navaid charges where applicable. Data on total charges have been provided because it is not possible to isolate landing charges specifically at airports abroad.

note 1 These are based on the standard charges. However, as a result of the Aer Rianta incentive scheme, rebates of 10 per cent on London passenger charges and 25 per cent on UK provincial charges apply. In addition, rebates of up to a maximum of 80 per cent of all airport charges apply for additional traffic on existing routes and for the introduction of new routes. See over for details of 1995 scheme.
note 2 The BAA has notified its intention to increase these charges by between 4.6 per cent and 6.8 per cent from April 1995 as per their formula for charge increases agreed with the Monopolies and Mergers Committee.
1995 Scheme
(a) 80 per cent discount on PLF for each new passenger over 1994 levels;
(b) 70 per cent discount on PLF for each new passenger over 1993 levels;
(c) 80 per cent discount all charges — new routes;
(d) 70 per cent discount on new routes which were introduced in 1994 and are being retained;
(e) 10 per cent on London PLFs and 25 per cent on UK provincial;
(f) 35 per cent discount all scheduled landings Jan./Mar. and Nov./Dec. '95.
