Written Answers. - 1977 Act Amendment.
EEC Council directive No. 75/129/EEC, which relates to collective redundancies, was transposed into national legislation by the Protection of Employment Act, 1977. This Directive has now been amended by Council directive No. 92/56/EEC and this necessitates an amendment to the 1977 Act. A Memorandum on the transposition is at an advanced stage of preparation and the matter will be considered by the Government in the very near future.
