Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Geoghegan-Quinn — the immediate action, if any, that will be taken to allay parental and public concern regarding the incidence of meningitis; (2) Deputy O'Leary — the implications for employment in and the future role of the accounts section of the decentralised office of the Department of Justice in Killarney having due regard to paragraph 119 of the Programme for a Government of Renewal; (3) Deputy Hughes — the need to approve a new psychiatric day care centre in Westport, County Mayo, as prioritised by the Western Health Board having regard to the present inadequate facility; (4) Deputy Upton — the need to ensure that the maximum possible number of organs for transplanation are made available in this country; (5) Deputy Seán Ryan — the decision taken by the Department of Transport, Energy and Communications and Aer Rianta to enter into a third party handling agreement at Dublin Airport from 1 January 1995; (6) Deputy Broughan — the water supply crisis in Fingal and the northern fringe of Dublin City; (7) Deputy Creed — the enormous inconvenience caused to disabled persons as a result of a decision by the Revenue Commissioners to centralise the processing and certification of fuel repayment claims to vehicle registration offices, many of which are inacessible to the handicapped; (8) Deputy Michael Smith — the plans, if any, for a substantial reduction in the numbers in the Defence Forces and the closure of army barracks; (9) Deputy Quill — the Government's plans, if any, for the interpretative centre at Mullaghmore, County Clare, and other centres that are the subject of controversy; (10) Deputy Coughlan — the need to provide adequate funding for the Owenteskna-Leamagowra group water scheme, County Donegal, in 1995; (11) Deputy Ó Cuív — the need to review the schemes of grants for people living in remote areas to enable them to attend second level boarding schools; (12) Deputy Dukes — the progress made in relation to the proposed 120 megawatt peat-fired power station in the northwest Kildare-East Offaly area; (13) Deputy Martin — the urgent need to resolve the problems facing up to 30 children from the Ballyphehane, Togher and Greenmount areas of Cork city who currently have no second level school places available to them in this area; (14) Deputy Kathleen Lynch — the urgent need to provide increased counselling and support facilities for male victims of sexual assault and abuse; (15) Deputy Eric Byrne — the urgent need to review and update the Register of Prohibited Publications; (16) Deputy Matt Brennan — the urgent need for a remedial teacher for six national schools in the south Sligo area; (17) Deputy Tom Kitt — the allocation of £2.1 million of public moneys in last week's budget for a variety of projects on what civil service sources describe as a political list drawn up by key members of the Government; (18) Deputy Theresa Ahearn — the serious staff shortage in the Farm Development Office in Clonmel, County Tipperary, resulting in farmers' grant applications not being processed and (19) Deputy Flaherty — the need to review the level of wages awarded for supervisors under the part time job opportunities scheme which is inadequate and threatens the continuation of schemes such as the Finglas Community Jobs Network which employs 47 people in Finglas.

The matters raised by the following Deputies have been selected for discussion: Deputies Tom Kitt, Geoghegan-Quinn, Quill and Michael Smith.
